Pro-Reverse Polygamy...
HBO's Big Love is one of the best shows on TV. Technically, Polygamy cannot really be against the law since only one marriage is valid. So I don't know why people get all up in arms about it. It's legal to have other lovers on the side so why can't you have them all under one roof? Anyway, I was wondering what it would be like if, GUYS, you were one of many husbands to one babe and, GIRLS, you were the queen bee. Comments?

if memory serves polyamory (i have no idea if that's spelled right) is the term you're looking for.
as to the concept...i think men and women get into those types of relationships for VERY different reasons.
if you look at long-lasting relationships with multiple wives (like the HBO series) you'll find that one of the main reasons women become involved is that a man who already has a wife or wives is already known to be a good provider and husband. the thought process is something along the lines of: marrying a single guy is a risk b/c as great a guy as he is now i have no idea how he'll react to being married. but the guy who already has 2 wives, how he handles marriage and the issues associated with it is a known thing.
the reverse, many husbands one wife, has a much different dynamic. i've known 2 seperate instances of this type of arrangement and they pretty much require 2 things:
1. that the husbands involved travel a lot, usually for work.
2. that the husbands involved are all bisexual.
i think this is mostly due to how men compete and acquire female attention, but having never been in something like that i can't say for sure.
could i personally do it? i'd have to say no, but it takes all kinds to make the world turn. :)
I the Qu'ran it states that a man may have upto four wifes but only if he can treat each one 100% equal. If the man can't he may only have one wife. And since it is believed to be an impossible feat to treat all wifes equal monogamy is the only option.
P.S. I remember learn that in some remote parts of Africa a wife can have more that one husbands This is because the husbands will have to go to war with other tribes and likly die. So the wife can have spares.
polygamy or polyamory is not African.It is a relationship which occurs at a particular time in the history of civilization.What a particular culture permits at a time determines how they look at life experiences.
